Lovely girls in front of the stairs to the temple

This is the temple where the left shoulder bone of the Buddha allegedly resides. There was definitely a lot of satvic (positive, pure, clean, light) energy felt up there. I connected with Pimada, the awesome lady who did my airport transfer who brought one of her friends who happened to be a tour guide, quite resourceful. What a fun time. We walked up the 300 some stairs to the beautiful vista of the entire city and the multiple opportunities to pray, revere, and participate in some of the more superstitious elements of Thai Buddhist culture. It all started with the reading of our fortune. Shake a canister of sticks until one falls out. That is your fortune number which you can read:

“Your fortune is so proper and middle, not the worst and best. Don’t think to do a big project, it will make you confused and trouble in the future. You have to wait for your hope including your lover.”

Pretty fun. Then, it was time to walk around the tower three times reverently for good things to happen in life. I joined the focused line of people all hands in prayer and went around three times. We prayed to a few of the Buddhas around the temple one of which was carved out of a single piece of teak. In one of the temple rooms, a monk made a blessing for me which was consecrated by a red string he tied around my wrist which I am to wear for three days. By this time I was feeling pretty good. 18:00 was rolling around which meant that one of the temple rooms had about five monks chanting for an hour inside. Beautiful to watch and feel the energy of sound. By the time we headed to the look out point where you could see the whole city of Chiang Mai and beyond, I was feeling awesome! Cannot pin point what was going on but I suppose that’s probably the point.

My visit to this temple made me think that I should definitely spend more time here so that I can explore the city a bit more without the obligation to be in massage class during each day. More on the massage classes later.
